Motivation Monday “Make the Cuts”

Its Monday and you have either just gotten home from work, or you are about to go into work depending on which shift your job title requires. You are thinking to yourself another Monday, another week, the same thing just a different day. You are tired of the same old same old, there has to be more to life than working 40 hours a week just to pay bills. You only have two days off a week if you are lucky and next week, guess what? You get to do it all over again. You do not get to spend the time you would like with your spouse, your kids, your friends, or enjoying your hobbies. You do not hate life but you do not love it either. There HAS to be something more right?!

Ladies if you feel this way YOU are NOT alone! I think we all feel this way or have felt this way at some point. It is hard to balance work, your kids needs, bills, doctor visits, school and responsibilities and find time to enjoy life. SO we realize the problem, but what is the solution? You simply can not keeping going on like this. You have to figure out something and figure it out fast. Let’s look at a few ideas to help us feel like we are getting more out of life than the “same thing different day” feeling from week to week.

CUT IT:

Cut out the things that you really do not want to do but feel obligated to do just because you have done it for so long or its a tradition of some sort. If there are things in your life that take up time and they are not fulfilling, simply stop doing it. Think about the time you are spending doing something you really do not want to be doing just out of tradition, when you could be using that time for things that would bring pure happiness. Maybe it use to bring you happiness but now it does not fit into your life schedule and it is becoming more of a burden than a pleasure, it is okay to cut it. SO lets cut out all things that are not necessary and do not bring happiness that tie up your time.

Cut Them:

This is an area I struggle in myself, but at times it is necessary and must be done. If there are people in your life that are constantly taking from you and you are never receiving in return and the relationship is draining the life out of you, cut them out. All relationships are give and take, so friendships and family relationships will take from you and people will need you and rely on you and that is OK! I am referring to the relationships that take take take and in return they offer you no support. They do not give back, you are always doing favors for them and you can not remember if they have ever done a favor for you. Another example of people to cut off are people that you would never hear from if you did not pick up the phone and call them, if you did not go to see them, if you did not make the plans, the people who put in no effort. These relationships are draining and waste time, this time could be put into others that know how to have healthy relationships in return. You could be spending that time and energy on your husband, mom, kids, and your real, loyal, in it until the end girl friends.

Cut The Insecurities

Insecurities, all women have them and they are not a fun time. Insecurities also play into our emotions which can cause us to be unmotivated and lead into depression. When we allow insecurities to step into our thought process it does not help us enjoy our every day to day and week to week routines. We ladies MUST cut the insecurities. Cutting out insecurities can be hard but it is very doable. Speak positive and encouraging words to yourself. Tell yourself things like “I am strong”, “I am beautiful”. “I am fun”, “I am loved”, “I am blessed”, and other uplifting things. Write motivational quotes and Bible verses on your mirrors at home, place them on your desk at work, place them as the back ground of your phone, put them in your car, and in your kitchen. When you start cutting insecurities you become happier which ultimately leads to a more fulfilling day to day life.

Cut The Excuses

We always make excuses of why we can not find time for our selves. Lets cut the excuses and just do it! Time for yourself plays a big role in happiness and fulfillment. If you do not take time for the things you enjoy then DUH no wonder we are not happy ladies! Think to yourself what makes ME feel good. What can I do for ME. Not what is the new fad, what does my husband want, what are the other ladies at work doing, NO! What are some things I enjoy that will make me feel good about myself and that I can add into my everyday or every week life. If you enjoy painting, paint! If you enjoy writing, write! If you enjoy reading, find yourself a good book and read! You do not have to take hours out of your day to do the things you enjoy. Just 15, 30, or 45 mins will do the trick. It will give you wonderful “ME” time that you deserve so much.

Cut The Bad Habits

We all have bad habits whether we like to admit it or not. We are not perfect and we never will be, BUT there are habits that we are aware of that are bad that we can cut. The habits that just make us feel bad about ourselves and take up too much of our time. If you are a smoker cut it, smoking is not only bad for your health but the cost adds up and so does the time. If you are on social media way to much cut it out, its wasted time. If you are a complainer stop complaining and replace each thought with something you are grateful for. Procrastinators (this is me!) if you go ahead and knock that homework, work, phone call, or duty out of the way look at how accomplished you would feel and time you would save. Gossip is a bad, ugly, hurtful thing that lets be honest almost all women do. Instead of gossip, find that time to invest in real conversation with someone. Excessive napping… naps are great and sometimes necessary, but to nap just to nap its a waste of time.  If you were to calculate all of the breaks you take during a full 24 hour day to smoke, look at social media, complain, procrastinate, gossip, or nap you would be surprised with how much time you would have had to be doing something enjoyable. Cutting the bad habits will also open up the door for good, relaxing, and happy habits to form.

Cut Into That Vacation Time

Take a vacation. Do not be afraid to use those vacation hours, or take unpaid days off. Life is about balance and in order to feel fulfilled you need to maintain a happy balance in life. Take time off of work go to the beach, go to the lake, spend time at home with friends and family going to the movies, shopping, and out to eat. Ladies you work hard, do not be ashamed to give yourself a break, not only do you deserve it you need it. Cut into that vacation time, have a few vacation periods planned out a year so you can have something to look forward to throughout the year.

Blythe’s 2 Cents

Is this blog post going to fix all of our problems, ABSOLUTELY NOT! BUT it is a start. It is important to remember that WE matter too and our happiness matters. We can not keep running ourselves ragged attempting to make it to every function. We can not continue to keep giving without getting. We can not keep letting our insecurities run wild. We can not keep making excuses for why we never do anything we enjoy. We can not keep holding on to bad habits that waste precious time, and we can not keep denying ourselves of well deserved time off! If we continue like this then there is no joy in life. We must make time for the things that make us happy, for the people who are important to us, and time to escape from our everyday routine every now and then. Spend time meditating and praying about the things in your life that need to be cut and the things that need to stay. Ask for the peace and strength to let go of the things, people, and maybe even the job that needs to be cut out. You only live one life and you deserve happiness. We were not created to live in misery. SO!!!! Pick the things out that make you happy, that make you feel fulfilled and do it with no regret and no excuses. Decide who is important to you and spend all of your time with them! Pick out those vacation days and put it on the calendar! Most important, decide everyday that you are going to wake up and be the best you. You can be making the most out of everyday seeking happiness in all you do so that way my friend you can live a full life WITHOUT all of the unnecessary events, people, habits, and wasted time. It is time to make the CUTS!
